The City-State system established by ancient Greece,is the origin of modern democratic po-litics.And the establishment of freedom of thoughts and freedom of speech under this system is the great contribution to the world civilization.This article tries to discuss how the ancient Greek especially the Athens defined＂freedom＂.%古希腊人建立的城邦制度,是现代民主政治的起源。在这种制度下建立的思想和言论自由,是古希腊人对文明的一个极大贡献。本文从不同的侧面论述古希腊人特别是雅典人对＂自由＂的定义,从不同层次探讨古希腊人城邦制度下＂自由＂的内涵。
