刘易斯·芒福德的“区域城市”思想及其城市愿景

刘易斯·芒福德是一位伟大的城市思想家，在其毕生的学术研究中，城市是其最为关切的主题。他在前人的研究基础上探究城市文化、城市历史以及城市的未来。针对现代大都市的种种问题，芒福德倡导城市建设应该以城市文明为目标，以区域维度构建“区域城市”，促进城市的合理分布和社会的健康发展。“区域城市”是缓解现代大都市种种弊端的最终手段。中国现有新型城镇化发展路径的选择与芒福德的“区域城市”思想相接近，城乡一体化是摆脱大都市困境的一个发展方向。%Lewis Mumford, a great thinker of the city, focused mostly all through his life and academic research the issue of ur-ban development.On the basis of the previous urban studies, he further explored the culture, history and future of the city.In response to the problems of modern metropolis, he advocated that the city construction should build the“regional city” accord-ing to the regional horizons, urban civilization being its goal.Besides, from his point of view, the rational distribution of the city and healthy development of the society should also be promoted.Indeed, the“regional city” is the ultimate means to allevi-ate the problems of modern metropolis.At present, the selection of new urbanization in China fits well with Lewis Mumford's i-dea of“regional city”, which shows that the integration of urban and rural areas may be one way out of the metropolis dilemma.
