汉译英中语气隐喻情态意义的获取--论情态成分的补充

摘要

This paper attempts to explore how the modal meanings of mood metaphors can be compensated by adding modal components. Firstly, a contrastive study of the differences and similarities in mood metaphor between English and Chinese is made in terms of syntactic structure, discourse marker and tone of the expression. The difference between the two languages in these aspects requires the translator to pay more attention to using modal components to compensate the loss of modal meanings when doing English-Chinese translation. The techniques are as follows:addition of modal component, shift in polarity, and change of mood domain. In translation, these techniques are effective ways to achieve equivalence of modal meaning and to compensate interpersonal meanings intended in the original text.%本文探讨了汉译英中如何通过情态补充的方式来获得语气隐喻的情态意义。本文对比了英汉两种语言语气隐喻的句法表现模式、语气标记语和语气的强弱三个方面的异同。这三个方面的异同使得翻译者在汉译英的过程中要尤其注重通过情态补充来弥补原文在翻译过程中缺失的情态意义。情态补充的三个策略分别是情态成分的添加，情态极值的变化，以及语气域的转换。在汉译英的过程中，这些方法对实现情态意义的对等翻译、补充原文中要表现的人际意义具有重要价值。
