Both southern humor and dialects are employed in Faulkner＇s works. Faulkner was greatly influenced by Mark Twin in terms of creation and population of light literature. Literary stylistics study proves the demotic language features in Faulkner＇s novels. Language features and writing style are taken as the effect of author＇s life experience. It is the theme rather than language itself that distinguishes serious literature from vulgar literature. The popularity of demotic writers agrees with the development of literature and history.
