This paper use Malmquist index method, investigated Hubei province agriculture total factor productivity change trend in 2004~2009, through the Malmquist index decomposition, analyzes the total factor productivity growth of Hubei province agriculture the inner power. The results show that Hubei province agricultural total factor productivity growth is mainly driven by advances in technology, in the common influence of scale efficiency and pure technical efficiency,Hubei agricultural resources allocation efficiency effect is not obvious on total factor productivity growth. Therefore, improve the technical efficiency of Hubei agricultural production is the main direction of agricultural development. At the same time ,in view of the major agricultural producing areas in Hubei province regional geographical features, put forward to the road of agri cultural mass production in order to improve the efficiency of scale, ultimately promote the Hubei province agriculture total factor productivity growth.%运用Malmquist指数方法,考察2004年～2009年湖北省农业全要素生产率的变动趋势,通过Malmquist指数的分解,分析湖北省农业全要素生产率增长的内在动力.结果表明,湖北农业全要素生产率的增长主要是由技术进步推动的,规模效率和纯技术效率的共同作用使湖北农业资源配置效率对全要素生产率的增长作用不明显,因而提高农业生产的技术效率是湖北农业发展的主要方向.同时针对湖北省农业主产区的区域地理特征,提出应走农业规模化生产的道路以提高规模效率,最终促进湖北省农业全要素生产率的增长.
