Ancient Yi script(Bimox Classic Texts) and standard Yi script(chuan) are as classified as square script, with two characteristics of being spiritually alike and being physically alike, Being spiritually alike is given priority to, while being physically alike plays a subsidiary role in radicals and strokes by which Yi characters are composed, Yi words are mainly phonetics but also ideographical.
