四时、五行与四声、五色、方位的对应关系,在《管子》《吕氏春秋》《礼记·月令》,以及汉代《淮南子》、桓谭《新论》一直就有记载.相对完善的观念的出现,是《淮南子》时期的事情.桓谭提出的"四时五行"与"四声五色"的关系,主要参考的是《淮南子》的论述.桓谭将四季(秋冬春夏,另加一季夏)、五行(土金水木火)与五声(宫商角徵羽)、五色(黄白黑青赤)、五方(中西北东南)相配,体现的是汉人的音乐思想与时令、五行、方位的内在关系,与汉赋之美有相通之处.%The relationships between four seasons,wuxing(五行)and four tones(四声),five colors(五色),five directions can be found in the books of Guanzi(《管子》),Lüshichunqiu (《吕氏春秋》),Liji(《礼记》)and Huainanzi(《淮南子》),Xinlun (《新论》)by Huantan.The perfect ideas of Sishiwuxing(四时五行)and Sishengwuse(四声五色)were combined in Huainanzi(《淮南子》),which were learned by Huantan.Four seasons,Wuxing,four tones,five colors,and five directions were fitted together by Huantan so that they reflect the ideas of the people in the Western Han Dynasty and have something in common with the beauty of Fu(赋).
