淮南城市兴起的动力，一是煤炭资源的开发，二是铁路的修筑。煤炭资源的开发使人口快速集聚，大通、九龙岗等居民点形成，奠定了城市发展的基础；因煤炭外运，修筑铁路，将大通、九龙岗与淮河岸边的田家庵连接起来，构建起淮南城市的基本框架。同时，路矿结合主导了淮南城市形态的演变。当然，淮南城市的兴起，也产生了深远的影响。%The momentum that contributes to the development of Huainan City is based on the construction of rail -road as well as the exploitation of coal .Because of the exploitation of coal , people gathered around this area quickly , which gave rise to the emergence of settlement such as Datong and Jiulonggang Town, laying the rough foundation for the progress of the city .Transportation of coal involved the construction of railroads which connect-ed Datong , Jiulonggang with Tianjiaan located along Huaihe River , thus establishing the basic framework of the Huainan city .Meanwhile , the combination of railroads and coal mine also leads to the evolution of the configura-tion of Huainan City .Of course , the rise of Huainan City also exerts a great effect on many aspects .
