从历史视角对西点军校教育理念的分析

             

摘要

西点军校在发展历程中形成了鲜明的个性,体现出一系列“西点特色”。与此同时,西点军校遵循着高等教育发展规律,学校自治、教授治校、学生自治和通识教育等现代大学的基本理念得到了较好的贯彻。西点军校的发展史也是一部学校自治史,如何处理与政府的关系一直是校长们面对的重要问题。教授们在西点军校享有巨大的权力,他们通过内部控制实现教授治校,约束校长权力。自主的学员管理制度体现了学生自治的理念,久负盛名的荣誉委员会无论从机构设置还是程序运行上看,都体现了学生自治的特点。西点军校创建之初就强调科学教育,拒绝成为狭隘的军事学校,之后逐渐推行多元开放办学,全面培养学生综合素质。%During the development process of more than two centuries, West Point has possessed a dis⁃tinct personality, which embodies a series of‘West Point features’. At the same time, West Point follows the law of development of higher education. West Point has implemented the basic ideas of modern university man⁃agement, such as school autonomy, faculty governance, student autonomy and general education. The history of West Point is also a history of school autonomy. How to deal with the relationship between the military academy and the government has always been an important issue for the principals. The professors have enjoyed great power in West Point, and they realize the faculty governance through the internal control, the principal power constraint. Independent of the student management system embodies the philosophy of student autonomy, the prestigious honor Committee reflects the characteristics of students autonomous from both institutions and pro⁃grams to run on. At the beginning of the establishment, West Point emphasized on science education, and re⁃fused to become a narrow military school, then implement multiple open education gradually to nurture the stu⁃dents’comprehensive capabilities.
