语言经济学视角下的公共英语教学效率研究

摘要

College English Teaching (CET) has suffered low efficiency from the perspective of the theory of cost-benefit analysis. Despite 30 years of the government's efforts, the CET reforms have failed. The major obstacle is that CET has oriented to language learning and liberal education rather than to the needs of society and students' disciplinary studies. Its test-orientation, devaluation of the instrumental role of English,following the curricular of English major and the wrong system of CET programs contribute to the low efficiency. Hence to improve efficiency, it is suggested that we should reorient our college English, abolish uniformed College English tests and return CET to the original purposes:to teach English for specific purposes.%根据经济学中的成本效益分析法理论，我国的公共英语（也称大学英语）教学长期以来存在着较为严重的费时低效现象。国家与这种现象斗争了30年，但收效甚微，改革阻力重重。原因在于：大学英语教学定位始终是内向的，是为了学习语言和提高人文素质，而不是外向的，为社会用人单位和学科专业需求服务。严重的应试教学、贬低外语工具作用的观念、应用目标缺位、公共英语的英语专业化和理念体制问题则加剧了费时低效现象。因此，转变目前的通用英语教学定位，取消大学英语四、六级教学考试，从体制和课程设置上回归大学英语教学本源，为满足学生当下的专业学习和今后的职业需求进行教学是正确的方向。
