This paper reviews 101 cases of maxillary osteomyelitis in infants mostly aged between 3 months and 3 years and the results do not agree with the popular conclusion that thts condition is frequent among infants less than 3 months of age.The author describes its etiology,pathology and pathogency,as well as the anatomic characters of maxilla.Hcreatogenous invasion by staphylococcus aureus is the main causative factor.This disease,with its sudden onset and acute course,leads to severe constitutional reaction.Local signs must be noted in diagnosis.X-ray films are usually of little value.Antibiotics administration should be continued till the infection becomes noticeably subsided.Intraoral incision of the abscess should be early and conservative surgery is advisable because the loss of bone and teeth often results in marked deformities.This condition had a good prognosis,yet prevention of complications should be stressed.%@@ 我院1956～1984年收治了101例婴幼儿上颌骨骨髓炎,由于婴幼儿解剖生理特点,故在症状、诊断、治疗上与成人颇有不同,多年来,对本病有散在报道,但例数最多者仅68例,本文结合临床所见,对此病加以分析讨论.
