摘要

This study addressed the emotional intelligence of African American women in higher education administration. The glass and concrete ceilings have prevented women from ascending to leadership roles. In addition, racism, sexism, discrimination, and negative stereotyping of the African American woman have aided in her inability to attain management and decision making positions. Emotional intelligence is now being considered a more important predictor or determinant of success than intelligence quotient. The study sought to investigate emotional intelligence of the African American women leadership and administrative roles and what, if any, other factors played a role in their ascension up the career ladder.
