This study examined if there was a significant difference in perceptions of principals who participated in the Missouri Leadership Satellite Academy offered by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) compared to the perceptions of principals who have not participated regarding the 21 leadership responsibilities of Balanced Leadership as defined by McRel's Balanced Leadership Framework: School Leadership that Works meta-analysis study.;The instrument used in this study was a researcher constructed questionnaire. The questionnaire asked the respondent's to give their overall perception of leadership responsibilities in their role as a building principal. Specifically, the instrument asked their perception regarding the importance of the 21 leadership responsibilities in their school. The questionnaire also asked respondent's their perception of how often they engage in each of the 21 responsibilities in their school. The assumption is that principal's will engage in what they deem to be important. The instrument consisted of 8 demographic indicator questions and 42 building principal responsibility prompts. The independent variable in this study was a principal's participation in the Missouri Leadership Satellite Academy Program. The study also examined the intervening variables of gender, size of the district, classification of district, years the principal has been in the district, the highest level of educational degree, and the level of the school building.;During the 2008-2009 school year, 230 out of one thousand sixty five invited public K-12 building principals responded to the Principal Responsibilities 2.
