The main objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the design and development of a non-formal educational project towards farm management training to farmers in the municipality of Villalba, Puerto Rico. The purpose of this training was to enhance the cognitive, affective and psychomotor skills of the farmers in technical aspects of farm business management. Once the farmers completed the training, they were provided orientation on several techniques designed to improve record keeping procedures and other technical practices related to farm businesses. The investigation was developed to determine the outcomes of the training offered in the project. Data were collected by a questionnaire administered to the participants through personal interviews. Results obtained were compared with information provided by the farmers in a data sheet filled at the beginning of the training sessions. Results of this study show a high level of satisfaction and interest in continued participation in these educational projects. As one of the most notable effects, the farmers have started collecting every document related to their farm business. Also, farmers increased interest in the development of their business by adopting different record keeping practices. This study made possible the identification of areas that must be reinforced by other educational techniques.
