摘要

This inquiry project examines the correlation between student voice, or student expression, and student motivation which leads to learning in the classroom. An in depth discussion regarding the elements that are required in order for student voice to be found and heard in the classroom is presented with collaborative support from an extensive literature review, in field research, and actual middle school student voices authenticating the value of this thesis' premise. This project is a qualitative survey which uses the author as an instrument of data collection and focuses on a small group of individual 8 th grade students who were observed, taught, and whom willingly participated in the study by speaking freely and expressing their own thoughts, ideas and desires regarding their schooling and education.
