Carrying out this research,a sample size of 50 customers who got microcredit from Sacco Shyara have been selected randomly. Questionnaires, interviewto the manager of Sacco Shyara and reports about financial planning of Sacco Shyara 2014-2016 have been used as data collection tools.
The research findings have shown that microcredits that have been given to 50 borrowers, have increased the income they gained before taking the loan,as they have invested microcredit received in income generating activities. There has been average percentage increase in monthly income of 59.92%. Monthly expenses on food have also increased by 53.43%. Borrowers have been able to pay Health insurance for themselves and for people who depend on them, the amount ranging from 3000Rwf to 21000Rwf;respondents also ascertained that expenses on education of dependents have increased by 26.74%. This increase in income has improved the living standards of borrowers in terms of better nutrition, healthcare, and education of borrowers.
However,22%of respondents have defaulted to pay back the loan which is asignificant portion;Sacco Shyara should take attention on it,and put in place measures to minimize microcredit payment default.
