中国特色词语的翻译策略研究——以《上海年鉴》（2005）为例

摘要

年鉴翻译属于实用文体翻译，对它的研究是翻译研究中的一个重要领域。《上海年鉴》的英文版是年鉴翻译的一个具体体现。因此，对其中出现的翻译问题进行研究是十分必要的。本文以《上海年鉴》(2005)的英文版为语料库，对其中出现的中国特色词语的翻译进行中英文对比研究。具体步骤是仔细研读《上海年鉴》(2005)中英文版，然后把与中国政治制度、经济活动、社会生活密切相关的中国特色词语挑选出来，前后做了四次筛选，最终确定了175个词条，分为9类(有关政策用语、专有名词、项目名及奖项名、活动名、四字格、行政级别词语、数字缩略语、国俗词语、同一表达不同译法)。本文的正文对这九类词语逐个进行分析，并归纳出此类中国特色词语的翻译策略。总的来看，采用了以下三种策略：第一种是偏重中文行文的逐字翻译法，即：按照中文习惯，在英语中找到其对应词，进行堆砌，形成该词的英语译文；第二种是偏重英语行文的释义法，即译者在理解中文含义后，对其进行解释，形成该词的英语译文；第三种是在英语和汉语之间寻求一个平衡点——尽量把逐字翻译与释义相结合。通过对这九类词语的英文译文的分析，本文指出了这三种策略在翻译不同类型的中国特色词语时的得失。在此基础上，本文提出了相应的建议为进一步改进《上海年鉴》英文版的翻译质量提供借鉴，进而为上海的对外宣传做出一份贡献。
