翻译伦理视阈下的《中庸》英译研究——以安乐哲和郝大维的合译本为例

摘要

随着伦理学对翻译研究的介入和发展，更多的翻译研究者开始注意到它对翻译研究的启示，并对翻译伦理的独特视角产生浓厚的兴趣。全球化语境下，文化典籍翻译面临越来越多来自翻译伦理问题的挑战，这就要求译者在处理跨文化翻译时从伦理学的角度审视翻译作品，在翻译过程中遵守一些准则和规范。翻译伦理启示翻译研究更多关注译入语文化，重视对文化“差异”的处理，以及对待文化“他者”应采取的伦理态度和相应的翻译实践。
　　译者受自身独特的文化身份和翻译动机等因素的影响，在翻译实践中会产生并秉持特定的翻译伦理，以此指导整个翻译实践，同时也影响其对翻译策略的选择。在安乐哲和郝大维合译的《中庸》译本中，译者对于中国传统文化中的“他者性”进行充分的阐释，将“他者”以“他者”的面目展现在西方读者面前，安乐哲和郝大维在翻译实践过程中，注重以西方的身份与“他者”进行交流。既然译者提倡中国文化的“差异性”，那么在翻译实践中又是如何体现的昵？本文从翻译伦理视角剖析安乐哲和郝大维对《中庸》的阐释和翻译。主要从三个方面展开论述:安乐哲和郝大维的翻译伦理，伦理原则，和翻译策略。基于此分析，本文得出结论:安乐哲和郝大维在《中庸》译文中采用“和而不同”的翻译伦理。这种伦理打破二元对立的“求异”或“求同”的单一模式，为中西哲学的互通架起桥梁。
　　为沟通中西哲学，对于中国典籍英译的研究必不可少，然而典籍英译不仅关乎哲学的交流，更关乎文化的传播。在当前全球化的大背景下，文化翻译不仅与国家、权利的联系愈加紧密，而且也越来越多涉及到伦理的问题。故此，本文旨在启发典籍翻译工作者在翻译实践中注意思考伦理问题，促进《中庸》的英译研究，推进中国传统哲学与世界哲学的交流共生。
