大学英语课堂教学中的文化教学与文化导入

摘要

跨文化交际主要研究不同文化背景下各种交际活动中涉及文化的种种问题，或对社会事物和事件看法方面的文化差异。它是涉及语言学、心理学、人类学、社会学、传播学的跨学科研究。本文利用语言学、社会语言学、人类学、语用学等多学科研究的成果，并结合作者的教学实践，对学生在英语学习中出现的涉及文化和交际障碍的问题进行了研究分析，探讨了以下几个方面的问题：第一，语言与文化的关系；第二，文化差异与语言教学；第三，文化学习与语言学习的关系；第四，对在校学生文化意识及能力的评估和测试；第五，英语教师在跨文化教学中的作用；第六，大学英语课堂文化教学的改革措施及相关评估。笔者在此基础上提出了英语课堂中文化导入的教学模式——将文化知识循序渐进地导入到大学英语课堂中。该模式不同于以教师为中心，以语法为中心的传统教学模式，而是针对中国大学生的现状，以培养学生的文化意识，提高文化敏感度为主，介绍日常生活交往方面的中西方文化差异，使学生理解中西方文化差异，同时提高学习英语的兴趣。在此基础上，课堂文化教学进一步深化，学生通过对中西方思维方式、价值观以及社会观念的差异的进一步了解，达到提高英语交际能力的目的。这种文化导入教学模式的核心，是将不同阶段的语言教学与不同层面的文化学习有机地结合起来，使大学生在掌握英语知识和运用技能的同时，建立一个相应的多文化认知系统，不仅整体提高了大学生的英语能力，同时也使他们的知识文化素养以及与跨文化交际能力得到了相应的提高。
