英语议论文的主位推进模式研究及对英语写作教学的启示

摘要

写作是语言综合能力的体现，也是英语学习者较难掌握的技能之一。学生在写作过程中会遇到种种难题，诸如如何下笔，句子及段落之间的衔接与连贯，等等。对于中国学生来讲，这些问题的症结在于他们虽然掌握了目的语的句法结构，仍然缺乏对语篇结构及其组织规律的认知和洞察，从而导致了他们写作的失败。在这种情况下，如何才能写出有效的文章成为广大英语教师关注的中心。 本文正是基于Halliday，Danes和徐盛桓等人提出的主位推进模式理论，从考试中常见的议论文入手，选取大连理工大学二年级的考试作文30份，对这些作文中主位推进模式的应用进行分析。研究之后我们发现主位在这方面能提供有效信息：中国大学生议论文中使用主位结构及主位推进模式是具有一定特点的。因此主位是英语写作教学中一个值得继续研究的领域。本文的另一目的是找出有助于促进写作教学的方法，建议英语写作教师让学生写作前先写出文章的主题与大纲，对文章进行缩写，有意识地指导他们根据不同的题材和读者设计不同的主位结构。学生可以掌握不同文体的写作方法，从而改进传统教学方法的不足，改变学生写作中思维混乱、缺乏逻辑的现状。
