Study on the Translation of Indeterminate Meaning in Four English Versions of Dao De Jing from the Perspective of Reception Aesthetics

摘要

作为一部哲学经典，同时也是一部文学经典，《道德经》在国内外有着深远的影响力。但是其近乎诗体的语言与意义的不确定性造成了理解上的模糊与含混，同时也给译者带来了极大的挑战。本文基于接受美学理论对比研究《道德经》四个英译本对不确定意义的翻译。
　　 本文运用了文本细读法。在接受美学理论的指导下，作者通过细读《道德经》四个英译本，试图从文本中找出大量实例来论证读者的接受对译者采取不同的翻译策略的影响。从而做到回归文本，避免理论架空文本，分析落不到实处。其次文章还运用了对比分析的方法。作者从四个英译本中选取大量例子，分别从词汇、意象和哲理层面对比分析四译者对不确定意义的翻译，以期为以后的典籍翻译提供借鉴意义和更为广阔的视角。
　　 在接受美学理论的指导下，本文作者选取理雅各、阿瑟·威利、林语堂和许渊冲的四个《道德经》英译本作为研究对象，对比研究四个译本对不确定意义的翻译。本文的引言部分包括对翻译的不确定性、理论框架、文献综述以及研究目的、方法论和意义的介绍。第一章侧重于从词汇层面看不确定意义的翻译，选取四译本对“道”、“无为”和“天”三个词汇的翻译进行比较分析。第二章侧重于从意象层面看不确定意义的翻译，选取四译本对道的意象、水的意象和圣人的意象三个意象的翻译进行比较分析。第三章侧重于从哲理层面看不确定意义的翻译，选取四译本对治国之道、对立统一规律和发展观三种哲理的翻译进行比较分析。从而得出以下结论:译作含有许多意义未定点和意义空白，并不是把所有的信息都呈现在读者面前。而这些未定点和意义空白将作品的创作意识和读者的接受意识连接起来。此外，译者在翻译作品过程中应考虑到读者的“期待视野”，即读者的社会经验、审美倾向和接受能力等，从而给译文读者带来汉语特具的美的享受。
