评价理论视角下汉语隐性恭维语的研究

摘要

恭维语作为一种特殊的语言现象，从十九世纪七十年代以来，国内外学者对恭维语的研究成果层出不穷。在研究早期，语言学家对恭维语的研究主要集中于显性恭维语，相关研究主要涉及语义学，社会语言学，跨文化交际学，语用学等领域。在这些领域中，对显性恭维语的话题，恭维语的应答，恭维语的性别差异等方面的研究相对较为透彻;但单独聚焦隐性恭维语的研究甚少，尤其是对汉语隐性恭维语的研究则更为缺乏。随着语言学研究的不断深入，新的语言学理论应运而生。
　　鉴于此，本文尝试用新的理论框架—评价理论(The Appraisal Theory)对汉语隐性恭维语进行分类和深入研究。通过对隐性恭维语的系统分类以及案例分析，旨在揭示这一特殊语言现象的本质，并尝试建立一种新的分析隐性恭维语的模式。
　　评价理论产生于二十世纪九十年代，是由著名语言学家马丁(J.R.Martin)提出的，发展至今已经形成一个较为完善的理论体系。评价理论可分为三个子系:分别是态度(Attitude)，介入(Engagement)和级差(Graduation)。态度系统是探讨说话人如何对人，行为或者现象进行评价;介入系统主要分析说话人以何种方式表达个人与他人的关系，从而表明自己在话语中的投入程度;级差则是表达说话人用什么语气表达，是强还是弱，是清晰还是模糊。本文则是以其中的两个子系统—态度和介入系统为理论框架，试图分析隐性恭维语的特点。
　　本研究采用定性与定量相结合，根据本研究的理论框架，作者对87电视剧版《红楼梦》中搜集到的120个语料逐条进行分析，并对其标注和分类，从而建立了一个汉语隐性恭维语的小型语料库。
　　本文将从回答四个问题入手探讨评价理论视角下的隐性恭维语这一现象，通过系统分析红楼梦中的隐形恭维语，本研究表明:
　　(1)态度系统从隐性恭维语的内容出发，根据个人情感，社会准则以及现象评估的原则，对听话者进行积极评价。在三个子系统中，情感系统最具影响力。
　　(2)介入系统从隐性恭维语的形式出发，根据个人的投入程度，对听话者进行间接的恭维。
　　(3)对隐性恭维语的分类可以从形式和内容两方面出发，系统且全面的分析这一语言现象的本质。
　　(4)态度系统和介入系统在分析隐性恭维语时，是互补的关系。既要关注恭维的对象和内容，也要关注恭维的方式与角度。二者结合起来，才能更好的理解隐性恭维语。
　　本文的研究意义在于以下几个方面:第一，运用评价理论的态度和介入系统对隐性恭维语进行分析，给这一领域的研究带来了新的视角。第二，本文对87电视版《红楼梦》中的隐性恭维语进行系统的分析，保证了研究对象和研究结果的代表性，是对隐性恭维语研究的进一步深入探讨。第三，笔者在本次研究中所提出的分析隐性恭维语的模式对今后的隐性恭维语研究有一定的启发。第四，本次研究的结果对隐性恭维语的翻译及教育具有一定的指导意义。
