摘要

双语教育的历史源远流长。国外的双语教育是从20世纪后半期发展起来的,它最早在美国、加拿大等国家实施并获得了成功,形成了一些比较成熟、自成体系的双语教学基本理论。被国际外语教学界公认为是一项成功的外语教学模式。在我国,随着中国改革开放的日益加快,既精通专业又通晓英语的双语复合型人才日益受到市场的青睐。在这种背景下,我国开展了英汉双语教学的实验,即非语言学科教学中使用英语和汉语,希望以此来提高学生的英语能力。如今,双语教学已经在许多高校,甚至中学、小学推广起来。探索并揭示双语教学规律,构建有中国特色的双语教学模式有着十分重要的意义。为了促进高校双语教学的发展,研究者更加关注双语教学并对此进行了研究。然而,对广西高校双语教学的总体情况的实证研究还是空白,为此,笔者确立了此项调查研究。 本研究力图回答的问题主要有:什么是双语教学?我国高校是如何看待和开展双语教学?双语教学中存在哪些问题?研究对象为来自广西高校不同专业的学生及双语教师。本研究立足于广西高校,通过实证调查,运用问卷调查法、访谈法、观察法等多种研究方法收集数据并使用sPss 10.O对数据进行统计分析。本研究发现:目前,我国高校的双语教学正处于初步实施阶段,在这一过程中暴露出许多问题,如双语环境缺乏、双语师资不足、双语课程与教材的选择不当、双语教学方法应用和结果评价方式欠妥等等。这些使得我国高校双语教学难以取得理想的效果。作者根据调查中 {发现的问题提出几点建议,如加强师资队伍建设,加大教材开发力度.创造双语环境。作者希望本研究的结果能对广西高校的“双语教学”的开展,对双语教学决策部门,研究者,教师等有较多的启示,能为有关决策部门提供决策依据。
