论韦尔蒂对“南方家庭罗曼司”的解构及其和谐探求

摘要

尤多拉·维尔蒂是二十世纪美国南方作家，在美国文坛享有盛誉。本论文所要研究的《三角洲婚礼》和《失败的战争》是韦尔蒂的小说代表作，取材于美国南方，均是以南方传统家族为背景的。
　　本论文共分为五部分。引言部分包括对韦尔蒂及其文学贡献的介绍，对其主要作品的评论综述，本论文写作的目的和意义，以及对论文中所用批评理论的介绍。
　　第一章主要介绍了“南方家庭罗曼司”的主要构成方面。“南方家庭罗曼司”产生并形成于美国内战之后的岁月里，是一种幻想实现形式，是南方白人在变革的时代追忆过去并希翼过去存活于现代的集体梦。过去的不平等向这种集体梦寻求庇护，企图永远处于静止状态。具体来讲，“南方家庭罗曼司”主要包括六个方面:家族完整性，家族荣誉至上，父亲的主导地位及男性英雄主义，“南方淑女”形象，黑人的驯服形象及白人贵族对穷白人的敌意。
　　第二章主要运用德里达的解构理论分析了在《三角洲婚礼》和《失败的战争》中“南方家庭罗曼司”的解体。通过第一章的介绍，可以发现在“南方家庭罗曼司”的逻各斯中心体系中存在一系列的二元对立，即集体主义/个人主义、男/女、白人/黑人、种植园主/穷白人。它们所表现出来的非和谐态暗示了深藏其中的不平等。在这两部作品中，韦尔蒂试图解构每一组二元对立，并以此颠覆“南方家庭罗曼司”的逻各斯中心体系。同时，她还揭露了这个集体梦的虚伪性。
　　第三章着重分析了韦尔蒂对构建和谐环境的初步探索，这主要是通过其作品中“南方家庭罗曼司”解体后原初二元对立项的融合或和解所表现出来的。韦尔蒂通过引用丰产神话和刻画特别人物，试图使看似无法和解的对立项达成和解。
　　最后，在论文的结语部分，本文作者指出:韦尔蒂并非如有些评论家所认为的那样对社会漠不关心，也并非是“南方自恋梦”的追随者;相反，她冷静地审视了美国南方传统社会文化的轴心方面，即“南方家庭罗曼司”，与此同时，还对如何构建和谐环境提出了自己的见解。
