托马斯·哈代的生态意识研究

摘要

本文以十九世纪英国维多利亚时代向工业时代转型的社会现实为时代背景，以近年来活跃的生态批评理论为依托，分析了著名作家托马斯·哈代的生态思想的形成和发展，并从生态的角度重新考察了哈代的生态思想在其两部小说《在绿荫下》和《林地居民》中的体现。小说《在绿荫下》中，本文通过分析小说书名的变换，小说中的人物、地点的原型，居住者、摇摆者和入侵者的概念，小说中四季更迭与主人公爱情进程的呼应，以及哈代对于保留古老传统的美好愿望等方面，将这部小说中蕴涵着的哈代的生态思想展现在读者面前。而在小说《林地居民》中，除了深化居住者、摇摆者和入侵者这三个概念之外，本文还从哈代笔下的威塞克斯世界，树木的图腾性象征，以及乡村生活和古老传统的毁灭等角度分析了哈代的生态思想在小说中的体现，以及他对于逐渐消失中的农村宗法制社会的惋惜和回顾。考察中发现，哈代在其作品中流露出保护自然，关注生态，宣扬人类与自然相互联系、和谐共处的生态意识，并告诫人们应该以参与、尊重、亲近的态度，而非役使、疏远、破坏的方式对待自然。
