摘要

A Dam Break flow is considered as a potentially catastrophic event. This is due to the strong acceleration and velocity of water. In many countries Dam-Break flow studies are very important in order to prevent the risk of flood areas . In this paper we present a numerical approach of a Dam-Break wave due to a total and instantaneous dam-Break. The mathematical flow model based on the shallow water equations, is represented by the Saint Venant equations. These are solved with finite explicit differences methods, using the predictor-corrector Mac-Cormack scheme. In order to assure the validity of the numerical solution we compare results with experimental physical laboratory model. In the first of this paper, we present the shallow water equations, In the second one, we resolve these equations using Mac-Cormack computational method. In the third part, we discuss numerical results and compare with experimental ones. At last we close with conclusion.
