SAFETY AND PAVEMENT ROAD ASSESSMENT PROGRAMMES IN MEXICO. HOW THE RESULTS ARE EASILY AVAILABLE THROUGH AN ENQUIRY VIRTUAL PORTAL

Mexico must commit to reduce the death toll on the federal network. A couple of roadsafety assessments programmes (RAP) were undertaken on 65,000 km using the iRAPmethodology and some countermeasures have been built. Two different hierarchynetworks were assessed in order to continue to work on the main strategies to enhanceroad safety for the United Nations Decade of Action. Also, road auscultations areperiodically undertaken. All results are available through a brand new facility called“Enquiry Virtual Portal” (EVP), which was sought to propose a new way to share data inthe light of the physical deficiencies of the current process to make the safety relatedindicators available at appropriate time and in any given place including the road at handitself through various Apps for Androids. Part of this work illustrates the easiness to accessdata in order to facilitate the accomplishment of the country’s goals in the internationalarena regarding death toll. The EVP was developed for emerging countries but it isscalable.
