摘要

Provision of multimedia services poses two challenges for media access control (MAC) in the future mobile communication systems: 1) providing guaranteed quality of service (QoS) and 2) utilizing wireless resources efficiently. In this paper, we propose a new MAC protocol for multi-code CDMA (MC-CDMA) system. This protocol achieves the maximum throughput by allocating packets with similar BERs to the same slots in each frame. In order to provide fairness, packets to be transmitted in one frame are picked up from multiple streams according to their assigned weight values. Analysis and simulation results show that the performance of our algorithm approaches that of the ideal model of GPS closely. Therefore the proposed MAC protocol is suitable to the future mobile systems.
