High performance organizations are able to produce high quality products and/or services with limited resources through the continuous improvement of productivity and quality. In order to achieve this objective, aspiring organizations are increasingly using their vast data repositories to obtain relevant information for ensuring a competitive advantage in today's global market. It follows that poor quality data has a serious detrimental effect on the quality of the information and the resultant decisions made. This paper investigates the interplay between data quality and organizational performance. We discuss how data mining and data reduction techniques can be used to assess and improve the quality of organizational data. In addition, the effective use of an organization's resources to constantly improve the organizational performance and quality of its data are discussed.
