The paper discusses the emerging need for video on the battlefieldnand the Army's plans to incorporate a video reconnaissance feature asnpart of the Soldier's Computer/Radio, a subsystem of the Land Warriornsystem. An overview of current video compression techniques isnpresented. A detailed discussion of a practical implementation of videoncapture/compression in the Soldier's Computer/Radio is given, along withnthe future plans for video dissemination on the battlefield
