Carrying heavy hand loads frequently and for longdurations is a known risk factor for low back disorders.Two-handed anterior carry is a common carrying postureperformed regularly at work places, but shows thelargest increase in anterior-posterior shear loadingcompared to other carrying postures such as one-handedcarry, backpack carry, and shoulder carry. A two-handedload of just 11.3 kg causes spinal shear loads to exceedthe recommended exposure limits and may potentiallydamage spinal tissues (Rose, Mendel, & Marras, 2013).
