The article presents the developed algorithm for the frequency and time synchronization of the chirp signal in an underwater acoustic channel based on the fractional Fourier transform. It is shown that on the basis of the data obtained as a result of the algorithm, the impulse response of the communication channel can be estimated. The limitations are considered under which different Doppler scaling acts on each propagation path of a multipath signal. Comparison of algorithms based on the fractional Fourier transform and the bank method of matched filters is carried out, it is shown that the developed algorithm is more energy efficient.
