The aim of this study was the glycerolysis of babassu oil catalyzed by immobilizedlipase from Burkholderia cepacia, in a continuous packed-bed reactor. The best reactionconditions were previously established in batchwise via response surface methodology as afunction of glycerol-to-oil molar ratio and reaction temperature. The reactor operatedcontinuously for 22 days at 50 °C, and during the first 6 days, no significant decrease on theinitial lipase activity was observed. Monoglycerides concentration was in the range from 25 to33 wt.%. Subsequently, a progressive decrease in the activity was detected, and an inactivationprofile described by Arrhenius model estimated values of 50 days and 1.37×10?2h?1, for thehalf-life and deactivation coefficient, respectively.
