A Comparative Study on the Soft Power of Chinese EFL Teachers and Native English Teachers in Decision Making

It reports a comparative enquiry into the soft power of decision making of two categories of teachers when approaching teaching in the language classrooms in China.We identify similarites and differences of tasks and participation structures that these teachers adopted in their instruction,and the underlying soft power of decision making in class with reference to beliefs,context and prior experiences.The most general conclusion that can be drawn from this study is that:whether they emphasize accuracy or fluency,and whether they prefer student-centered or teacher-centered instruction,they tend to capitalize on these theories eclectically,though they do differ in the extent to which they stress one focus or another.
