Recently, image fusion using discrete wavelet transform (DWT) has been popular because it has shown the ability to improve image quality by combining complementary information from multiple images. For remote sensing images, we can combine high resolution images with low resolution images to have more visually enhanced images. In this paper, we present novel modified DFT (MDFT) filter banks with zero-phase filters and apply them to the pixel-based image fusion algorithms using multifocus images and remote sensing images. The performance of the MDFT filter banks were compared with the DWT and the results were competitive.
