摘要

The low forward speed limitation of strip theory prevents its application from predicting the hydrodynamics for high speed ships. Whereas, the high speed strip theory, known as 2.5D theory, is suitable for middle and high speed range. This paper presents a practical combined method to calculate ship motions in waves where the strip theory and 2.5D theory are used together. A critical Froude number is set for the upper limit of using strip theory, and above the critical forward speed, the 2.5D theory is used to calculate ship motions.
