摘要

In this paper a novel method for detecting torque distortions on the power train system ofrnreciprocating aircraft engines is proposed. Using only limited information of the system by acquisition of arnsingle acceleration signal from the engine block our idea allows for robust and fast detection of severe faultsrnlike misfire in the engine’s cylinders. Engine health condition is estimated from the acceleration data usingrnmodal analyses techniques based on the existing mechanical model. Results from detailed mechanicalrnanalyses of the power train system justify our single sensor approach. Our monitoring solution can be usedrnas a cheap and easy misfire detection system as add-on safety application for existing and newly developedrnreciprocating aircraft engines.
