For the first time theoretical bases of the free oscillation method for NDT and NDEof cracks in testing object is given with account of damping. The new analyticaldependence of the spectral density of testing object free oscillations from the relativecrack size, damping factor, duration of NDT (E) and initials object speed isreceived. New multidimensional vector of testing data for NDT and NDE invariant tointensity of initial excitation is proposed. The received results allow to explainphenomena appeared at the method usage, to propose testing data vector and toevaluate parameters of testing object crack. The received results are common,therefore they have been found expedient to take into account the obtained resultsfor forced oscillation NDT(E) methods.
