This paper proposes a data embedding method to generate a reduction-image which utilizes for high-quality image enlargement. Generally, image enlargement is defined as a method to generate a high-resolution image from one or plural low-resolution images. On the other hand, in this paper, we assume that a high-resolution image is available for the process of image reduction. The proposed image reduction method embeds information of pixels, which is lost in the reduction process, into the reduction-image. In the image enlargement process, the proposed method reads the embedded information from the reduction-image then utilizes it to generate a high-resolution image. An effectiveness of proposed method is verified by some experiments. The results show that the proposed method realizes high-quality image enlargement in terms of both objective and subjective evaluations in comparison with conventional methods.
