The "high field crystal growth" is a general term givent o crystal growth phenomena taking place on field electrodes interacting with low vacuum ambient. The phenomena are classified into two categories: anode fiber growth and cathode fiber growth. The former, discovered by Beckey and his associates, is referred to the growth of non-metallic fibers on field anode. In the latter, metallic fibers grown on electron emitters reacting with plasmas of metal-containing inorganic compounds. Some researches have been done for these phenomena, and a lot of experiment data have been achieved, but the growth mechanism of the fibers still remain to be an open question.
