Study on Oleoresin-tapping and Essential Oil Components of Chinese Sweetgum——A New Resource of Biomass Chemicals

V-shaped descent method was used for the tapping of Chinese sweetgum. The studies are mainly focused on the influence of the CSGO yield by these factors, such as the tapping season, diameter at breast height (DBH) of Chinese sweetgum tree, age, height of streak and frequency of streak etc. The results showed that the higher CSGO yield occurred in July, August and September; the CSGO yields of Chinese sweetgum which DBH were above 30 cm were higher; and the CSGO yields of Chinese sweetgum over 30 years with black bark and cracks were higher; the CSGO yields of Chinese sweetgum with the first pair of streak at 1.5 m were higher; and the resin yields of Chinese sweetgum being cut every 15 days were higher. It was feasible to use V-shaped descent method for Chinese sweetgum tapping.Essential Oil of CSGO from Jiangxi, guangxi and guizhou province of China obtained for steam distillation respectively. The chemical components of Essential Oil were analyzed by GC-MS.23 kinds of compounds were separated and identified. There are 9 kinds of monoterpinene, 9 kinds of sesquiterpinene and 5 kinds of other components. The chemical components and contents of monoterpinenes were similar. Pinenes content was as high as 40 to 55%. However, the chemical components and contents of sesquiterpinenes were different, and content of β-caryophyllene and caryophyllene oxide in the essential Oil from guizhou province was as high as 30%. CSGO is an important resource that can be used to extract natural essential oil.
