In this paper, the mathematical model of a HVACrn(Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning)rnequipment is described. This system is inserted into arncomputer code developed in Matlab/Simulinkrnplatform which is devoted to the analysis of buildingrnthermal behavior and HVAC closed-loop controlrnperformance. The model is presented in terms ofrnnon-linear state-space equations that represent thernenergy and mass balances for each HVACrncomponent. Two control loop structures arerndescribed and analyzed. The IMC structure is usedrnfor the PID controllers tuning procedure. Finally,rncomparative results are provided in terms of energyrnefficiency and indoor air temperature and humidityrncontrol performance by using data of two Brazilianrncities.
