Along with engineering structures becoming large-scale and complicated,construction and health monitoring of them are strictly required.This paper mainly introduces an example of health monitoring about the special structure which is large-scale and complicated.Shenyang Culture and Art Center concert hall was chosen as the monitoring object.Because the concert hall is large-span spatial structure and it is in complex stresses conditions,so it is a representative special structure.Owing to the fact that the fiber Bragg grating sensor has the advantages of small volume,strong ability of anti-electromagnetic interference,simple installation,and establish network conveniently,it had been widely used in the health monitoring of large-scale and complicated structures.In the engineering of Shenyang Culture and Art Center,the strains and temperature of key positions of concert hall have been monitored by using the fiber Bragg grating sensors.In order to reflect the unfavorable deformation of concert hall structure,several positions with large deformation had been selected to monitor.Monitoring positions included the upper and lower sections of root segments of two large deformation beams and the central section of large deformation column.The fiber Bragg grating strain and temperature sensors were respectively distributed in the positions above.The optical fibers were connected to the optical cables,and then the optical cables were led to the outsides of beams and column for connecting to the monitoring equipments.The data of each period of construction had been collected,and based on the analysis of the data,guidances and recommendations would be proposed for the structure construction.Furthermore,the basis of the structure's safety assessment would be obtained.Because of the fine performances of fiber Bragg grating sensor,it will be more widely used in the future constructions.Our work verified feasibility and superiority of fiber Bragg grating sensor in health monitoring of the special structure which is large-scale and complicated and also provided experiences for similar projects in the future.
