A new asymmetric scan waveform is proposed to reduce the . addressing time and to increase the dynamic voltage margin based on an addressing discharge delayed formation phenomena in an ac plasma display panel (ac-PDP). For an asymmetric scan waveform, a scan pulse width is wider than the address pulse width and is progressively increasing during an addressing procedure. As a result of adopting this new waveform, it is founded that the address pulse width is reduced from 3μs to 1.4μs and the address voltage is lowered from 70V to 60V.
