摘要

Professional drivers of truck and agricultural machinery often comp lain of low backrnpain. Literature mentions whole-body vibration and long-term exposure as the majorrnrisk factors. The human behaviour in a driving environment and being exposed tornvibrations for long periods of time is however complex. The SAFEGUARDrnconsortium has come up with an evaluation methodology that gives an objectivernquantification of the efficiency of the suspended seat in comfort and healthrnpreservation. Therefore both static and dynamic situations are dealt with usingrnmechanical, biomechanical, ergonomics and physiological parameters. Thisrnevaluation will give better placement of seat specifications according to their comfortrnimprovement capabilities. In general a better insight in the human – seat relationshiprnwill be obtained.
