Iconic Visual Search Strategies: A Comparison of Computer Users With AMD Versus Computer Users With Normal Vision

摘要

The objective of this study is to derive empirical knowledge of the visual search strategies of computer users who have Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD). This was accomplished by recording eye movement during the use of feature-enhanced software. Results from this study showed differences between users who have AMD and users possessing normal vision. Detailed analysis confirmed the hypothesis that there would be performance differences between the AMD and fully-sighted (FS) participants and specific features of the interface, namely, icon size, background color and the number of icons on a display would significantly affect users' search strategies.
