Direct fabrication of ultrafine electrospinning nanofiber

A novel spinneret assembled with Cu grid after hydrophobic treatment was presented in this work to fabricate ultrafine nanofiber. Cu grid was fixed at the front end of spinneret,by which polymer solution flow from precise syringe pump was divided into several smaller ones. The fine liquid flow from each hole of Cu grid was stretched into individual jet by the electric field force. Since the hydrophobic treatment, liquid jets emanated from Cu grid kept their own track without aggregation. The initial diameter of liquid jet was decreased greatly by the Cu grid after hydrophobic treatment, and smaller jet leaded to finer nanofiber. PEO and PVA ultrafine nanofiber with diameter of 20~90nm was electrospun from this novel Cu grid spinneret. In addition, the diameter of ultrafine nanofiber increased with the concentration of polymer solution.
