Strategies of Learning Participation Based on Distance Learning Support: A Case Study of Hebei RTVU

Inspired by the key concept of participation in interaction theory, an empirical study was conducted to investigate learning participation through various channels, especially multimedias, such as: online platform, MLS (Multimedia Learning System) and QQ, etc. and factors affecting participation. The subjects of study were from Hebei Open Education Institution. Data were collected from questionnaire feedback and interviews. Findings indicate that learners' learning participation was mainly examination-oriented with little interest and social presence. And their learning participation needs further encouragement by offering well-designed face-to-face tutorial instruction, well-designed assessment software, accessable online platform and refined resource.
