The paper considers the possibilities of the geometrical non-linear 3-D inversion for finding the subvertical target objects differently placed relative to airborne electromagnetic survey profiles in the conditions of laterally inhomogeneous overburden layers and significant changes of relief height and depths of subhorizontal borders between the geological medium layers. The mathematical model of geometrical non-linear 3-D inversion and approach to the parametrization of the geological model are presented. The results of 3-D inversion of synthetic airborne electromagnetic data show that the subvertical object can be detected in its different locations relative to airborne EM survey profiles.
