Optical fiber surface plasmon resonance (SPR) based sensors are doubtlessly required for the coming development of miniaturised and compact sensor system. SPR based on solid-core hexagonal microstructured optical fiber (H-MOF) with a conducting metal oxide (such as indium tin oxide (ITO)) as the sensing material is demonstrated as a refractive index sensor in infrared (IR) domain. The effect of ITO film thickness at different wavelength is simulated theoretically. We reported the sensitivity of ~5.04 μm/RIU (Refractive Index Unit).
